Adam Stevenson
Adam Stevenson CMIOSH CMgr MCMI MISTR MSc BSc (Hons) DipNEBOSH has over 16 years experience working as a health and safety professional. He has worked in both public and private sector environments and has a firm conviction of the importance of biosafety in the laboratory environment. As well as been a chartered safety professional he is also a qualified trainer, accredited auditor, and chartered manager. He has developed and delivered risk assessor training to ensure practical risk assessments are in place to cover a range of biosafety laboratories and microbiology techniques. Currently his day-to-day work involves providing pragmatic biosafety advice to fast throughput diagnostic pathology laboratories.
Previous experience has seen Adam involved in various microbiology laboratory refurbishment and new build projects as well as providing advice across a range of containment laboratories - diagnostic, reference, and research. Notably Adam recently worked with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in the UK to develop guidance on the safe handling and processing for COVID-19 samples in laboratories. Adam is currently the Head of Health and Safety at Sonic Healthcare UK.

Wendy Shell
Wendy Shell, CMIOSH MISTR BSc (Hons) MSc has over 10 years’ experience working as a Biosafety, Biosecurity and Bio Risk expert, as well as being a chartered health and safety professional. She has worked in this field, predominantly in the Government laboratory sector, in both the UK and in Austria. She was responsible for the development and implementation of human factors analysis in BSL3 and BSL4 in vivo and in vitro facilities as well as the incorporation of these into routine laboratory risk assessment and accident investigations. She has developed and delivered numerous biosafety and biosecurity training courses in the UK, Europe and Internationally. Currently she is the Bio Risk Officer at the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (business area Animal Health), with biorisk management responsibilities in diagnostic and research laboratories ranging from BSL2 to BSL3+ (BLS3Ag).
