Coming to Antwerp by public transport is highly recommended!

Antwerp has an extensive network of tram and bus lines.

  • From Antwerp Central Station (Antwerpen-Centraal):
    • Subway n° 9 or 15 – stop "Groenplaats" – take exit "Nationalestraat"
    • Follow Nationalestraat for 1 km
  • From Berchem Station (Antwerpen-Berchem):
    • Tram n° 4 – stop "Tropisch Instituut"

Please note that Antwerp is a low emission zone. The most polluting cars are not welcome in the city. Roughly speaking, it mainly involves diesel cars built before 2005 and gasoline cars built before 1992. Check whether your vehicle is allowed to enter the city. The city does not have a database with the data of foreign vehicles. That’s why you always have to register your car, which should be done no later than 24 hours after entering the low emission zone. If you have to pay for admission, you must apply for your permit no later than one day before you plan on coming to Antwerp.

Avoid visiting Antwerp by car. Parking your car in Antwerp can be expensive, as you’ll have to pay to park in most of the streets. Spaces are limited as well. However, in case you do come by car, the following options are available:
