Welcome to the European Biosafety Association
EBSA is the professional association for people working in biosafety and biosecurity. Founded in 1996, we are a not-for-profit forum with 745 members across 56 countries, drawn from healthcare, academia, industry, emergency response and regulatory affairs. Our members work wherever biological materials are handled — research laboratories, clinical settings, manufacturing facilities, field operations. What unites them is a commitment to managing biological risk competently and proportionately. We support that work through our annual conference, pre-conference courses, online training, EBSA Thursdays, and active working groups. We also engage with European institutions and partner associations so that the perspective of biosafety and biosecurity professionals is heard where it matters.
Whether you are new to the field or have spent a career in it, EBSA is where you find your colleagues. -

in memoriam Isabel Hunger-Glaser
It is with great sadness that the European Biosafety Association (EBSA) learned of the passing of our long-standing member and former President, Isabel Hunger-Glaser. We extend our condolences to Isabel’s family, friends, and colleagues.
Isabel made an exceptional contribution to the field of biosafety and biorisk management throughout her distinguished career. She played a pivotal role in shaping biosafety practices in Switzerland and internationally.
As longstanding and highly respected member of EBSA Isabel was involved in the EBSA Council and also served as EBSA President from 2014 to 2016. Isabel was a valued leader and colleague whose expertise, integrity, and warmth left a lasting impact on our association and the wider biosafety community.
She will be greatly missed.
