Public Consultation on the Global Action Plan for Poliovirus Containment

The chief guidance document for poliovirus containment–GAPIII (2015)–has been revised upon recommendation from the Containment Advisory Group (CAG) to the Director-General of WHO.
Revisions to the guidance have been made based on available scientific evidence, relevant biorisk management standards and WHO documents, technical guidance from CAG, and solicited stakeholder comments. WHO has engaged Gryphon Scientific LLC, USA to support this work. The draft of the revised Global Action Plan for Poliovirus Containment (GAPIV) is being shared following critical review and approval by CAG for the purpose of inviting comments and feedback on the proposed changes outlined therein, which will then be further considered by CAG. WHO encourages feedback from all containment stakeholders.
The WHO has requested that all feedback is submitted by 1 May 2022 using the attached comment form and is directed to the Responsible Officer: Dr. Harpal SINGH hsingh@who.int with copy to containment@who.int. Information on the process is also available on the GPEI website.
