| Dear all,
You are invited to the kick-off meeting for the project to convert an existing CL2 laboratory for CL3 operations.
This meeting marks the formal start of the project and sets the expectations for how we will work through the technical, operational, maintenance, and assurance challenges associated with upgrading from CL2 to CL3 within an existing facility. The discussion will not be limited to the end-state design, but will also focus on how the laboratory is expected to operate safely and defensibly throughout the transition.
Ahead of the meeting, you are expected to familiarise yourselves with the laboratory design and maintenance sections of the WHO Laboratory Biosafety Manual, Fourth Edition. These principles, together with the documents on the reading list, form part of the baseline against which the project will be discussed.
The briefing material issued in advance is not background reading. It is the basis for the upgrade project. The session will be discussion-led and will assume that participants have taken the time to read and understand the context, constraints, and questions already posed. This will be a working meeting. The quality of the discussion will depend directly on reparation.
Kind regards,
Faye Litherland and Vips Halkjaer-Knudsen
